Douglas Adamson is a member of the Institute of Marketing and has had a long career in advertising and marketing communications. He was a director of one of the largest agencies outside London and eventually ran his own company in Harrogate which included a sales and marketing training arm.

 

He has worked with multi-national clients in Europe and the US. He helped set up and chaired Shopmobiliy in Harrogate. Douglas was a founder of the Friends of Nidderdale AONB, an organisation he chaired for 10 years. He was also a volunteer Countryside Ranger in Nidderdale. More recently, he was chair for six years of Settle Stories, an arts charity. He is a life-long fisherman and runs a bird watching group in Snape, his home village. Douglas has written and self-published two dark, satirical novels and had several short stories published. He regularly contributes editorial pieces for radio for the hard of sight in the Harrogate District.
