Dr Marie Taylor

Operations Director, formerly Senior Project Officer

Marie started working for the Yorkshire Dales Rivers Trust (YDRT) as a Project Officer in October 2017, she took on the Operation Director role in 2020 and now manages the team and delivers on multiple projects. Marie moved to the YDRT from the Lincolnshire Rivers Trust (LRT). At LRT, she was the River Witham Catchment Co-ordinator, working on a DEFRA funded initiative (Catchment Based Approach). As part of this role, she maintained and developed partnerships with stakeholders, including the Environment Agency, Internal Drainage Boards, Anglian Water, Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust and Local Authorities. She successfully led and delivered multiple projects whilst working for LRT, which included; physical river habitat improvement, surveying and eradicating invasive plant species, delivering educational work within schools, managing citizen scientists and collating water quality data gathered.

Marie grew up locally in Wakefield and moved to Hull in 2006 where she started her BSc in Marine and Freshwater Biology. She completed her PhD at Hull University in fisheries in 2016, which focused on the influence of flow management and habitat rehabilitation on fish communities in Yorkshire.
In Marie’s spare time she enjoys spending time with family, walking her dog Floyd, and doing Yoga.
