Our river environments provide a wide range of services including water supply, recreation, agriculture, fisheries and flood defence, making river management a balancing act of the needs of all the users, owners and organisations who have responsibilities relating to the environment.
The DVRN works collaboratively to co-ordinate activities within our catchments that will allow our rivers to move from surviving to thriving.
Using available data we have summarised the current condition and issues in each catchment and through local consultation meetings we have identified and prioritised a Catchment Management Plan.
The Rivers Trust have also produced an interactive report on the State of Our Rivers which gives you information on all the rivers and their catchments in England.
This Catchment Plan captures the aspirations of the partners in the Dales to Vale Rivers Network (DVRN) for a better water environment across our catchments. It sets a strategic framework for realising benefits in the catchments of the Swale, Ure, Nidd, Ouse, Foss, Wiske and Wharfe rivers.
This document will be used to guide and develop existing projects and the development of future work/projects within the catchment partnerships.
It has been developed through a review of the previous catchment management plan and public consultation with stakeholders and interested parties in each catchment to ensure current relevance of issues and priorities for action.
The plan can be viewed below or downloaded here. A plain version is available here.
