Volunteer with us

Volunteers are invaluable to the YDRT and we are always looking for people to join us in helping to care for our rivers.

  • Would you like to help protect your local environment?
  • Do you enjoy working outside in iconic locations?
  • Would you like to gain practical environmental management skills?
  • Would you like to gain or develop a career in environmental management?

If you would like to volunteer with us, please fill out the contact form below. We will then get in touch with details of upcoming events and ways to get involved. If you have already signed up for an activity please use the tabs below to find out what you need to bring and to read the relevant risk assessment. Please note that all attendees must sign a Risk Assessment in order to take part in our events, so it is a good idea to read it before you come along to make the most of your day!

Corporate Volunteering

We have run a range of volunteer days for an array of organisations from ecologists to engineers wishing to get more involved with the work we are doing. We can work with you to provide fun and interesting volunteering opportunities throughout our catchment.

There are many benefits to corporate volunteering, see this article for more information about the benefits: Click here

Please get in touch to hear more.

Contact us will be: enquiries@ydrt.co.uk

What to bring

All our practical activities take place outdoors. Please bring suitable clothing and footwear, including waterproofs and warm layers. We will provide any protective clothing you may need. Please also bring a packed lunch, a mobile phone and any personal medication required.

Risk Assessment

Our activities take place outdoors and are usually in or near watercourses. Although we take every measure to ensure the safety of our volunteers there are inherent risks in working in these environments. Please read the relevant risk assessment before you volunteer with us:

Come and volunteer with us!

We have many activities that you can get involved in, any ability or experience. It’s great fun in a friendly environment.
