Senior NFM Officer - Ousewem

Guy joined the Ousewem delivery team at the Yorkshire Dales Rivers Trust on 14 October. He will play a pivotal role in delivering natural flood management (NFM) to enhance the SUNO (Swale, Ure, Nidd and Ouse) river catchments in North Yorkshire. His work involves practical actions to improve the catchments’ natural environment, strengthen resilience to climate change and inform future policy and land management practices. Yorkshire Dales Rivers Trust (YDRT) are the primary delivery partner in the project , leading on action coordination, evidence-building, and hands-on NFM implementation across the region

 

Guy brings a wealth of experience from his background in conservation and environmental engagement.  With a degree (Hons) in wildlife and conservation management, he has dedicated over seven years to the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust, delivering large-scale, community-focused projects. He later serviced as a reserve manager with Natural England (Rimac NNR) and managed Lincolnshire’s EU LIFE and Lottery Funded Dynamic Dunescapes Project.

 

Known for his collaborative approach, Guy has built enduring partnerships with farmers, landowners and regulatory bodies. He looks forward to engagement with North Yorkshire farmers and stakeholders to delivery bespoke NFM and river restoration projects. Beyond his professional commitments, Guy is passionate about exploring Yorkshire’s countryside and immersing himself in the region’s vibrant live music scene.
