The River Tutt meanders gently north east from Staveley to meet with the River Ure at Boroughbridge. It flows through a flat and open  landscape with sparse tree cover, managed for intensive arable production with pockets of grassland for livestock.

This project is centred on the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust Reserve at Staveley.  A feasibility study  to look at habitat creation, fish passage and reducing sediment in the River Tutt  has received Defra funding.   The Project Partners are led by Yorkshire Wildlife Trust and include the Environment Agency and the Swale and Ure Internal Drainage Board. The feasibility study will be completed before March 2015 by Middlemarch Consultants with data collected by YWT.
