Project Overview

Over the past three years we have worked with the Brompton Flood Prevention Group (BFPG), Environment Agency, Natural England, North Yorkshire County Council and local landowners to help deliver a range Natural Flood Management (NFM) measures in the Brompton Beck catchment, focusing on Ing Beck.

Over the three years a wide range of NFM measures have been used to reduce the flood peak in Brompton Beck as it flows through the village of Brompton. Achievements include:

  • 650 trees planted
  • 3 km hedge planting (16500 hedge plants)
  • 5 leaky dams
  • 1 pond and 1 flood basin (combined maximum storage of 3825 m3)
