Our Rivers
The Yorkshire Dales Rivers Trust cares for rivers in some of the most awe inspiring landscapes in England, with much of the area included in the Yorkshire Dales National Park and Nidderdale National Landscape. The Trust covers an area of approximately 4854 Km² (1874 sq.miles) with five major rivers systems: Swale, Ure, Nidd, Ouse, and Wharfe. This gives us 6690Km (4157 miles) of rivers to care for, with a range of environmental challenges to improve their ecological status.
Since 2022, our projects have enabled us to:
Trees planted
Natural Flood Management schemes
Children educated
River clean-ups
Volunteer hours worked
Farms given advice
Wetlands created
Water quality improvements addressed
Kilometres of River improved
