INNS Out
River restoration through invasive species management
Project Overview
Our 'INNS Out' project aims to work strategically within our river catchments to control Invasive Non Native Species (INNS), working with community groups and volunteers to help determine priority areas and species.
Project aims
- Mapping INNS and collating information to target key areas and understand the spread of specific species.
- Engage with landowners to better understand what control they are carrying out and offer support where required.
- Initiate a strategic programme of control for priority INNS, using the 'catchment down' approach.
- Support and work with community groups to help tackle INNS in their area, starting in tributaries.
- Promote biosecurity.
Through this 'upstream down' approach, we aim for INNS to be successfully managed throughout our catchments by clearing the highest points of infection and so limiting the risk of re-establishment downstream.
