The aim of this project was to reduce the height of the peak flow during flood events, slow the movement of water within the catchment and protect local communities.
This project used natural flood management techniques (NFM) to reduce flood peaks by increasing the time it takes for water to transfer through the catchment by tree planting to intercept rainwater; creating ponds and scrapes to support the short term storage of water in the land and helping farmers improve their soil health to enable the ground hold more water.
