Jonty was born in Harrogate, grew up in Nidderdale, and lives Wetherby and spent most of his childhood fishing and swimming in the rivers, lake and ponds of the Yorkshire Dales.


Despite losing his leg in an a car accident at the age of 22, Jonty has become a renowned open water and ice swimmer, completing multiple endurance swims, including an English Channel Relay, solo swim of Windermere and numerous marathon distance swims.


Jonty was part of 'Team Bits Missing' the first disabled relay team to swim the North Channel. He was also the first disabled swimmer to swim the International Ice Swimming Association's (IISA) ‘Ice Mile’; is a Guinness World Record holder for Para distance Ice Swimming and is Vice President of IISA and a global board member.


Jonty also represented GB in two Ice Swimming World Championships and was part of the first Para relay team to compete as World Para in the final of the IISA World Championship country 4X250M relay.


Jonty works in the financial services industry.
