Bardsey Fields

In partnership with East Keswick Wildlife Trust and with funding support from Yorkshire Water we helped to improve a large grassland area and the village's mill tail for nature, wildlife and water by:

  • Planting 700 trees
  • Planting 3,550 hedging plants, making about 592m of cross slope hedges
  • Installing 998m fencing to protect the plants & mill tail
  • Installing eight 3.6 by 10.8m post & rail tree compounds to protect the infield tree plants
  • Installing eight cross slope leaky barriers
  • Installing three instream leaky barriers
  • Breaking out two surface water drains onto Bardsey Field grassland (with the necessary permissions)
  • Leading four volunteer days to install leaky barriers.
