Ellen joined Yorkshire Dales Rivers Trust in 2025 and is working on the metal mines project focusing on the Nidd Catchment. Over the next couple of years Ellen will be identifying and delivering interventions to reduce the amount of heavy metal pollutants entering the River Nidd.

After completing a degree in Environmental Science at the University of East Anglia, Ellen joined Yorkshire Wildlife Trust delivering Natural Flood Management (NFM) interventions in the Aire catchment and invasive species management in the Calder catchment. She then joined the Yorkshire Peat Partnership where she worked on blanket bog and raised bog restoration across the Yorkshire Dales and the North York Moors. She has experience working on complex projects with different stakeholders including land managers and contractors.

Outside of work Ellen enjoys cycling and swimming in the rivers and pools across the Dales.
